Originally written in Italian. In 2014 The author read an article that Morgot Wolk the only living one of Hitters food tasters. When she tracked down her Berlin address to write a letter to her and meet her she had already died.
In Gross- Partsch, East Prussia Rosa was informed by the SS that she has to go on the bus to Krausedorf. First they gave blood samples and then were given a meal before Hitler was given lunch, they were 10 women. Of these there was a war widow, married women whose husband were at war but not all wore wedding bands. They were able to get 2 good meals a day, but it was only vegetarian as Hitler did not eat meat. The women were paid 200 marks a month which was more than she earned in Berlin. Some of these women were the Fanatics and loved Hitler, he had thousands of women who admired him.
Rosa was born in 1917 and brought up in Berlin, she married Gregor who was now in the army and in 1943 her home was bombed and her mother was crushed next to her in the cellar. The cellar was full of rats and somebody said that there will come a day after the cats and sparrows are eaten that they will eat rats She now went to live with her in-laws. The trees in Under der Linden were cut down so that people could see Hitler in the parades, actually cut down for firewood in the war they were 250 years old.
Germans love children but hers at times eat their chicks. She was informed her husband Gregor was missing. "If a wife is faithful to her husband he will survive"
The SS guards had all seen active service and the treated the Russian POWs badly unlike the British and French prisons and they were scared of what would happen to them if the Russian got the upper hand Germany would be doomed to Russian slavery. 2 men have failed to realize that Russia is cold Hitler and Napoleon.
Gregor as a soldier was no longer fighting for Germany because he believed in it or loved it, but because he was afraid. SS officers had in doing their work become depressed , alcoholics and many committed suicide.
People who stood with the Nazi salute especially the Jungvolk after 20 minutes struggle to keep their hand up. Her father had been a Zentrum supporter and the catholic church not a Nazi but Zentrum backed the law that gave the Nazi's power. She is invited to the Castle for dinner where she sing so well and meets Hans Severus Ziegler. (who was a prominent Nazi theatre manager) Marlene Diedrich had sung Lily Marlene but was an anti Nazi in exile. Goebbels had said "the age of Jewish intellectualism is over and it is time to gain respect for death"
Ziegler is a married man with children but she is his mistress. Stefan Anton George, 1868–1933) was against German Imperial militarism. In the castle Marie has a portrait of Hitler Rosa feels that he looks feminine and his mustache looks fake, it is hard to believe that thousands of women send him fan mail. There were stories of Eva Braun, Hitler mistress.
1933 the internment camp in Dachau was mentioned in the press.

She hears from Marie at the Castel how wonderful Claus von Stauffenberg was. He had driven into a minefield in Libya and lost a hand leg and eye. He was involved in the 20 July 1944 plot to kill Hitler and any one friendly with him was rounded up.
There was mothers day and a woman with 6 children could get a silver cross with 4 a bronze cross from the führer . Germans love children even those buried or missing.
At Gross- Partsch there were no shelters and if bombing started they would have to run into the forest.
When the Russians starts getting close and Hitler and his henchman are preparing to move to Berlin. Albert Ziegler arranges for her to be hidden in the baggage of a train leaving for Berlin. It appears that the other taster never survived the war. Her parents in law died but Gregor came home and found her in Berlin. However because Rosa could not reveal her secret that she worked for the Nazi's and had a Nazi lover ,they divorced 3 years later. He married Margo and had children and grandchildren.
The story ends in 1990 when Margo invites her to Italy to see the dying Gregor by this time Europe has free movement and the FIFA world cup took place in Milan. She reconnected to her brother Franz who came from American to visit her with his children but she never saw Ziegler again.
